October 30, 2026

  • Save to Ayumi from Siri (iOS 27 or later): after talking something through with Siri, say “Save this to Ayumi” and it becomes a new entry, with the date, place and weather added as usual. This works whether or not Siri can read your journal. (iOS)
  • With “Let Siri Read Your Journal” on, you can also ask Siri to add a line to an entry it finds — for example, “Add ‘the cough settled down at night’ to today’s entry in Ayumi.” (iOS)

October 29, 2026

  • Ask Siri about your journal (iOS 27 or later): turn on “Let Siri Read Your Journal” in Settings, and Siri can find your entries, open them, and answer questions about what you wrote — for example, “Open the entry about the trip to Kyoto in Ayumi.” Your entries also appear in Spotlight. It’s off unless you turn it on, and turning it off removes your entries from search on this device. (iOS)
  • Apple Watch: the microphone stays closed until you start a recording, and the record button responds right away when you open the app. (iOS)

October 27, 2026

  • iPhone Duo: folded like a laptop on a table, the recording screen splits at the fold. Your status, input level and Live comments stay on the upright half; Stop and the other controls sit on the half lying flat. (iOS)
  • iPhone Duo: the recording status screen keeps its content clear of the fold when the phone is partly open. (iOS)
  • On This Day: on iPhone Duo’s inner display and on iPad, what you wrote on the same date in past years — and earlier today — appears beside the entry you’re writing. (iOS)
  • Open an entry in its own window: touch and hold it in the journal and choose Open in New Window. (iOS)
  • New Entry control: open Ayumi to a new entry from Control Center, the Lock Screen or the Action button, next to the Record control. (iOS)

October 21, 2026

  • A ringing call or an alert no longer stops a recording on iPhone or Apple Watch. (iOS)
  • When answering a call or using Siri interrupts a recording on Apple Watch, what was recorded so far is saved and sent to iPhone. (iOS)
  • The Shortcuts action “Create Audio Entry” is now called “Transcribe Audio File”. Existing shortcuts keep working.
  • Settings > About has a new Send Feedback link.
  • Fixed saving that could hang while an entry was stored only in iCloud and not yet downloaded.
  • When a save fails, the entry editor now shows the error. Before, pressing Save could look like it did nothing. (macOS)
  • Fixed Time Travel opening at January instead of today. (macOS)
  • The More menu button (three lines) in the list toolbar is now the same size as the buttons beside it. (macOS)

October 19, 2026

  • Time Travel: see the same days across years side by side, like a five-year diary. Zoom out to weeks or months with the control or a pinch.
  • Open Time Travel from the ... menu. (macOS)
  • Import Media: turn several videos, photos and recordings into one entry. With a Gemini profile, the video’s picture and sound are read together and key frames are attached.
  • Drop the videos, photos and recordings on the window to import them. (macOS)
  • Write About a Recent Moment: start an entry from Journaling Suggestions. Its time, place, photos and feelings come with it, and “Talk About This Moment” records straight into it. (iOS)
  • A new Library drawer on iPhone picks what to show: all entries, favorites, the map, Time Travel and each tag, with search. (iOS)
  • Add a Start Recording control to Control Center, the Lock Screen or the Action button. (iOS)
  • Transcription profiles can add fixed tags, and prompts can include {{location}} and {{weather}}. Location and weather are now captured when a recording stops.
  • The entry map opens near your current location.
  • Share now has its own button in the entry toolbar, and edits are kept when the layout changes on rotation. (iOS)

October 17, 2026

  • New editor modes: the editor now has View, Rich Text, and Markdown modes. Rich Text styles headings, bold, checklists and more as you type, with formatting buttons, list continuation, and indent and outdent.
  • Quick Entry gets the same three modes, and Rich Text adds formatting shortcuts and Tab / Shift-Tab to indent. (macOS)
  • Entry details now show the body rendered as Markdown.
  • Switch microphones mid-recording from the mic badge.
  • Switching microphones leaves the system default input unchanged. (macOS)
  • Added File > New Entry (⌘N). (macOS)
  • The list preview is now a clean two lines, without the repeated title or Markdown markup.
  • Fixed frontmatter properties added in Obsidian or other apps being dropped on save, and tags written as tags: [a, b] not being read.
  • Fixed the app sometimes closing when opening the map with many entries.
  • Fixed Share not working from the menu on iOS 27. (iOS)

October 10, 2026

  • New Live mode: while you record, up to three personas you set up comment in real time through Gemini Live. Write each persona’s instructions in Markdown and hear replies spoken aloud. Requires your own Gemini API key.
  • Get Live comments on Apple Watch. (iOS)
  • Redesigned the Apple Watch recording screen with a waveform that follows your voice. You can now start and stop recording with Siri on Apple Watch. (iOS)
  • The app icon badge shows how many recordings are waiting for transcription, with a reminder if they wait a while. Apple Watch recordings count as soon as they stop. (iOS)
  • Attach a photo and on-device AI suggests a few sentences to open the entry with (on supported devices).
  • Press ⌘C to copy the selected entry. (macOS)
  • Fixed the app sometimes being terminated while saving in the background. (iOS)
  • Fixed a second edit of an entry always reporting a conflict.

September 4, 2026

  • Added on-device transcription that needs no API key or account. Audio stays on your device and transcription works offline.
  • Choose a transcription engine per recording: on-device, Gemini, Gemini Transcribe, Meta Muse, xAI Grok, or Groq Whisper. Cloud services are used only after you configure your own API key and consent to sending audio.
  • Transcribe a saved entry’s audio again with a different prompt or engine.
  • Added a Today complication for Apple Watch showing today’s writing and recordings still waiting to reach your iPhone. (iOS)
  • Fixed offline Shortcut saves, delayed Apple Watch recording transfers, and a Dynamic Island that could remain after recording ended. (iOS)
  • Improved the reliability of the transcription queue and audio recording flow. (macOS)

September 1, 2026

  • Transcription now works out of the box: recordings are transcribed on your device, with no API key and no account. Audio never leaves your device, and it works offline.
  • Choose an engine per recording — on-device for a verbatim transcript, or your own Gemini API key for summaries and rewrites.
  • Transcribe an entry’s audio again any time, with a different prompt or engine.
  • A new Today complication for your watch face: how much you have written today, how that compares to a usual day, and how many recordings are still waiting to reach your iPhone. Tap it to record. (iOS)
  • Fixed a watch recording that could sit waiting to sync, and a Dynamic Island that outlived a finished recording. (iOS)
